What the name means
Monastiraki is Greek for little monastery. The district takes its name from the square, and the square from the church of the Pantanassa that stands in it.
A flea-market district
Monastiraki is a flea-market neighbourhood in the old town of Athens and one of its main shopping districts, with clothing boutiques, souvenir shops and specialty stores.
The two main streets
Pandrossou Street and Adrianou Street are the main streets of the area.
The station
Monastiraki Metro station sits on the square and serves both Line 1 and Line 3, which is a convenient way to reach the square.
Psirri
The kitchen is in Psirri, one of the inner Athens districts that is especially busy with bars and nightclubs. An evening class starts with the street already waking up.
Finding the meeting point
Two meeting points are in use depending on the option you pick. Read the one on your booking, and give yourself a few minutes in case the streets are busy.
